Emma, a senior majoring in Product Design and minoring in human rights, is most interested in human rights issues related to international women’s health (AIDS, FGM, violence against women and children, and much more). As a student at Stanford she has worked on child nutrition and food access (for instance, participating in a food and farming Alternative Spring Break or a SPOT trip on food injustice) and has interned at a PKBI (Planned Parenthood) in rural Indonesia – mostly in the gynecological clinic or office. She has also participated in mental health events – for instance a silent march and talk for speaking up about mental health. Her overarching interest in health expands to both physical and psychological health. In the future, she wants to find effective ways to combine her interests in human rights and art/ design.
