Handa Center Welcomes Professor Katherine Jolluck as Senior Fellow

The Handa Center is very pleased to announce Professor Katherine Jolluck senior lecturer in Stanford's Department of History, as the newest member of its team. Jolluck joins as a senior fellow and will support the Handa Center's work on human trafficking as well as academic programming in the field of human rights. Jolluck has also taught at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Naval Post-Graduate School.  A specialist on the history of twentieth-century Eastern Europe and Russia, she focuses on the topics of women and war, women in communist societies, nationalism, and human trafficking.  Her most recent book, Gulag Voices: Oral Histories of Soviet Incarceration and Exile (with Jehanne M Gheith) was published in 2011 by Palgrave Macmillan.  Additionally, she has published Exile and Identity: Polish Women in the Soviet Union during WWII (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2002), and articles on gendered nationalism and anti-Semitism, and sex trafficking in post-communist Europe
